Bamanaga Tukur: Nobody will leave pdp for other party

013 Bamanga Tukur lauds Akpabio’s developmental strides The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bamanga Tukur, said on Tuesday night that no right thinking Nigerian would abandon the party to pitch his tent with the opposition parties. He stated this while felicitating with the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, who received the “Best Governor” award from the Leadership Newspaper. Mr. Akpabio had visited the PDP national chairman in his private residence in Abuja. Mr. Tukur said the award is an indication that the governors elected on the party’s platform are not just working but delivering on their mandates. He said that the award shows that the governors are ensuring that Nigerians benefit from democracy, adding that he has been to Akwa Ibom and nobody would leave the party on which they were elected to join the opposition. “I have been to Akwa Ibom and I have seen all that has been going on there and that makes me happy because as a chairman I know that nobody will like to leave the winning party. So let him continue to win and be doing the good thing. Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, while speaking at the occasion, said Mr. Akpabio won the award on behalf of all PDP governors, adding “the award is an indication that all the PDP governors are working more than the opposition governors and it is very obvious that today we have every reason to celebrate as PDP members and as governors of PDP because he won the price on our behalf. “I congratulate him, congratulate the National Chairman and also congratulate the President because it is an indication that PDP governors are working, PDP government on top is also working, the party is working because it has provided enabling environment for peace to reign so that we can work,” Mr. Yuguda said. Mr. Akpabio told the members of the National Working Committee, NWC, present, that the award means well not just to him but to PDP and that is why “I dedicated the award to the people of Akwa Ibom state and PDP that gave me the vehicle that I drove down to government house.” The governor added, “But I also pointed out that it is not only me that is working, that other PDP governors particularly are working and that most governors in Nigeria are working. And that the question is let us go round the states in the country and find out all the positive things that are going on across the country and bring them out so that Nigerians will be better educated. “This is because if we continue to churn out the bad news all over the media, it means that Nigerians will be misled into thinking that nothing positive is happening and yet they entrusted their mandate into our hands, entrusted their lives into the hands of PDP and we are doing well all over both at the federal level and state level.” He said he would be spurred to do more before the expiration of his tenure in 2015.
